theodore roosevelt

Theodore Roosevelt In December 1933, Theodore Roosevelt set sail with a small group of men on an expedition to Brazils “River of Doubt”. Almost right from the start though, the journey had begun to go wrong. At the point where they could go no longer in canoes, they began to travel through the jungle. While traveling in it he cut his leg on a boulder and it became infected immediately. The cut quickly became red and swollen and raised his temperature to a soaring 105 degrees Fahrenheit. He decided he could no longer go on and pulled out his veil of morphine he carried with him everywhere he went. Before he took his life though he realized in order to keep his son alive and strong, he would have to keep himself alive. During the expedition Theodore was losing men to starvation, disease, drowning, animals, and even people. They have saved themselves through many life endangering moments in the expedition. But in the end although Theodore was deathly ill him his son and one other crew member made it out of the jungle alive. Theodore although to sick to fully recover had no regrets about this trip.
